New Vertical Skatepark in Ardon (VS)
From the 18th to the 19th of July the skatepark builder Vertical Technik AG built up a new skatepark in Ardon with the help from skaters and youngsters from the region.
The old park with bank, quarterpipe and fun box made out of chrome steel, which was not built by Vertical, was no longer conform to the needs of the new generation of skateboarders in Ardon.
They were dreaming about new obstacles and founded the association „Comité du Skatepark d`Ardon“ together with the commune and the youth worker Cynthia Balet. The project was realised with additional help from the youth delegate of the canton Valais, Mr. Paul Burgener from Visp and the Vertical Technik AG from Frenkendorf was engaged for the construction.
The new skatepark consists of the following modules: Bank 1.5 m high, Pandora Box with Ledge, Wheelie table with Stone Ledge, Curved Trick Box, Roof Rail 3 m long und a Microramp 1 m high.
All modules have weather proof HPL riding surface. The Stone Ledge has a polished surface made from “nero assoluto” granite. This surface is unbeatable to grind and slide. Please note: BMX riders NO PEGS. The Stone Ledge is designed only for skateboards and can not stand hits from BMX Pegs. It will be damaged if Pegs are used. Thanks for your understanding.
The opening of the skatepark is on Wednesday 1st of August 2012 with shows organized through the association. Special thanks go out to the town of Ardon, Cynthia Balet and Paul Burgener, for the great collaboration and of course to the skaters for the support of the vertical construction team.
